Sales and Marketing Executive - Petroleum/Industrial Fuels
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To promote the sales of products and services that will most benefit the company and to establish credibility through communication in a manner that will optimise market share and improve the company’s profitability.
Knowledge, skills and abilities.
The incumbent should bring to the job certain skills that are obvious and mandatory and without which the incumbent will not function as desired by management. These skills include:
5 years of relevant experience in marketing and sales or a suitable tertiary degree in the field.
Understanding of the Hydro Carbon Industry
Ability to understand and comply with the Company sales process.
Adequate interpersonal skills to enable communication with various diverse persons
Knowledge of modern office administrative procedures and methods including reporting, communication, office systems, filing and record keeping.
Knowledge of accounting and corporate governance and compliance requirements.
Skills to use personal commuters and various software packages such as Excel, Word and to format presentations in Power Point
Ability to plan, establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision.
Ability to problem solve and handle customer complaints
Understanding of the target markets business environment including technical aspects of the customers application
Product knowledge of the company’s products and a broad understanding of our competitor products including understanding the strengths and weaknesses of these products.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing and implementing an annual marketing plan,
Directing company marketing activities
Developing an annual sales and promotion program
Promote the Company’s brand wherever strategically possible
Establishing and achieving profitable sales
Increasing market share
Meeting annual Sales Target
Manage all existing customers and ensure their needs are understood and met
Monitor markets for price indications and changes on a daily basis
Initiate ordering instructions when necessary
Frequent visits to clients with a structured call factor program developed by ranking customers in order of size and profitability.
Document and profile each customer, specifically the incumbent should get to know management, boiler engineers and operators, order entry clerks and accounts payable clerks. Estimated purchases each year, and competitor activity.
Improve the Company’s profitability by:
Understanding the profitability model with a view to improving the client’s profitability through product mixes, logistical changes or other recommendations that will achieve the objective.
Develop relationships with other key stakeholders that may lead to new business opportunities. These opportunities should be optimised in conjunction with the CEO.
Overseeing product sales and service
Prioritising customer delivery service schedules
Responding to customer complaints of any nature
Collecting outstanding credit and cash sales and managing debt
Handling all communications of any nature with the customer albeit formal written or informal verbal
Analysing sales and producing graphs and reports for management discussions.
Develop websites, social media techniques and modern methods of branding the company in ways not previously experimented.
