Our client based in Maitland, Cape Town is seeking a Finance Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the financial aspects of the business and reviews the overall management accounts of the business; works closely with the HOD and ensures books are up to date as per timelines, manages the finance team, makes sure that reports are issued to internal/external parties which enables a smooth functioning of the finance department. Oversees payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable and ensures effective systems are implemented to increase efficiency and ensure legislative compliance
Duties & Responsibilities
Main job function
Takes responsibility for financial reporting including management accounts, sales report analysis
Arranges payments and monitors incoming funds; ensures the accuracy of month end reporting by processing of accruals, provisions etc.
Ensure the completeness and accuracy of accounts payable and related expenses
Oversees and monitors the debt collection
Prepares and manages the monthly reconciliation of accounts, transactions, inventory and sales; and signs-off
Creates and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Undertakes financial and cash-flow planning, and advises on best-practice
Performs a region-specific Product Profitability Analysis
Analyses the monthly performance management against budgets and last year actuals
Prepares an exceptions report where necessary
Ensure the completeness and accuracy of accounts payable and related expenses
Oversees and monitors the debt collection
Manages and records intercompany loans and transactions
Prepares for internal and external audits and submits proposal for the appointment of auditors for the company to be approved by the Managing Director, liaises and is involved in the requirements throughout the audit
Prepares tax returns (direct and indirect) and ensures the correct submission of Income tax, provisional tax, VAT, Import tax etc.
Liaises with banks and/or other facilities and prepares fund requests
Manages the relationship with external parties (Banking/Auditors)
Builds and develops the team, and manages the team directly and is responsible for their performance, for recruitment and selection of new members
Supervises the correct entry of employee data in payroll system and the statutory returns
Ensures the correct journal entry into the accounting system once the payroll is duly approved
Oversees the reconciliation of payroll control accounts is done at each month end
Approves the month end reconciliations using the Group approved reconciliation template for all balance sheet accounts
Submits of management accounts to the Group
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications
Chartered Accountant or Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business & Commerce with extensive experience
Experience/Criteria
5 Years’ work experience at a corporate level and in a management position
Experience in Budgeting, reporting & analysing, corporate finance
Expert in regional tax, VAT and other statutory returns
Experience in managing Payroll
