Our client has a strong portfolio of e-commerce and other brands, that are category leaders through value-driven marketing, product selection and execution. They have a well establish footprint throughout Africa and are based in Cape Town.
They are seeking a Head of IT, focusing on the e-commerce portfolio, to improve the use and develop technology, across customer-facing websites, operational processes and tools, business intelligence and data analytics. The role will focus substantially the online space with the mission and delivering excellent customer service as well as Network marketing, on-line sales, mobile app etc
Duties & Responsibilities
Main job function
Responsible for the use of technology, systems and data, across all functions.
Includes customer-facing websites and customers’ experience, backend ERP and warehouse systems, internal processes, data analytics, BI and big data analytics/ML.
The role is business-focused, focusing on taking business objectives through needs scoping, software design or vendor selection, through to implementation.
Oversee the activities staff etc and to work closely with other department heads.
Own the end-to-end oversight of how technology and data are used to deliver an excellent customer experience, including oversight of internal processes.
Collaborate with the respective divisions to design, execute excellent and continuously improving customer UI and UX on websites and mobile apps.
Manage the internal e-commerce software development team, including overseeing the roadmap and business requirements, and ensuring effective execution.
Vendor selection, management and implementation for third party software systems and outsourced technical skills.
Innovate and collaborate with other key departments in producing new ways to reach customers and/or execute internally.
Manage talent within the portfolio, including software developers, data scientists, product owners and analysts; and including recruiting and retention, and developing pipelines for junior and high-potential talent.
Own and enhance company culture at all levels, and ensure all staff have clear roles, expectations and growth plans.
Work collaboratively with your board, and other entrepreneurs in the brand portfolio.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Relevant IT Tertiary qualification
3+ years of experience in e-commerce or a closely related industry
5+ years of relevant technical functional experience, in a role involving the management and implementation of technology, systems, processes and projects
2+ years of people management experience at a senior level, with strength in communicating clear expectations, creating clear business requirements for projects, solving blockages, and changing staff behaviours during implementations
Strong analytical skills, and affinity for defining and measuring KPIs
