Building and Construction Company seeks an Operations Manager that has a strong Accounting background to render an effective financial administrative support function to the company and region in compliance with policies, procedures and IFRS. Strong Management skills needed in this role which will suit and experienced supervisor.
The position is 60% management, 30% finance and 10% business understanding. Over 7 plants with between 15 and 20 people will report into this person.
Duties & Responsibilities
Full understanding and experience in accounting and ability to do Balance Sheet recons, accruals and stock recons.
Support Regional Manager with all Financial and Administrative tasks:
Attend to any day to day financial queries from the Regional Manager.
Assist Regional Manager with any stock related queries
Review and investigate daily raw material reconciliation
Assist Regional Manager with Budget control to prevent overspending.
Management and supervision:
Leading, guiding and motivating subordinates by means of regular staff meetings and daily interaction with subordinates;
Ensuring that staff are properly trained to function effectively by identifying and communicating shortfalls to management;
Recommending or initiating and implementing effective management processes;
Attending to administrative matters, correspondence and complex enquiries that cannot be addressed by subordinates
Any office administrative requirements
Preparation of management account
Maintain Audit files for all journals and balance sheet transactions
Perform monthly Sales completeness tests for Region.
Prepare cash flow forecasts and projections
Assistance with internal audit and external audit requirements
Attend to any queries from group as and when required
Ad hoc requests and project
Desired Experience & Qualification
A completed 3-year tertiary financial qualification e.g. BCom Accounts (or similar)
Computer literacy – Sage Evolution and MS Office
Min of 2 years experience in managing a diverse group of people - Must be able to manage people over various plants and ensure they all work together towards a common goal
Interpersonal and human relation skills
Code EB Driver License
Ability to work independently
Management and supervisory skills
Accuracy and ability to give attention to detail
Target and deadline driven
Experience in working in a highly-pressurized environment
