Cape Town, Western Cape
We are looking for a Food Technologist who is responsible for the safe and efficient development and modification of food products and processes.
B.sc Food Tech/Consumer sciences or related qualification
Any additional qualifications in Quality Control and/or Food Safety advantageous
HACCP and GMP ‘s knowledge advantageous
At least 3 year’s relevant experience in the food processing industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Able to effectively communicate with staff at all levels
Ability to conduct research and analyse data
Honesty, Integrity & Reliability
Strong attention to detail
Critical thinking capabilities
Apply urgency in work done – report faults urgently, take action urgently; results orientated.
Self-motivated: Ability to work with little supervision
A willingness to learn
Strong ability to multitask.
Microsoft Office skills
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as this is a production factory
Good time management
Must have own transport
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure that specifications for all finished product is updated and approved by the customer
New product development – preparing spec sheets for imported products
Ensure that specifications for all Raw Materials is updated and approved by the supplier
Ensure that all specifications is in compliance with all legal and customer requirements
Ensure that all the suppliers’ questionnaires is signed and updated on an annual basis
Conduct Cold store inspections / internal audits on an annual basis
Ensure that all labels conform to legal requirements and is approved by the customer
Ensure that imported seafood’s purchased by is safe for human consumption (Micro results and COC)
Send Samples monthly to swift laboratory for microbiological analysis
Ensure that all imported seafood gets NRCS clearance
Investigate all imports customer complaints and ensure that the Quality Control Manager upon completion approves it
Ensure that all raw material (fish) purchases has the required label information by conforming to the R146/2010 label requirements
