Our client based in Johannesburg is looking for a Payroll Administrator to provide effective Human Capital support to the region through the successful administration and implementation of all aspects of the employee life cycle and relevant Company policies and procedures. The monitoring of the requirements of the following Acts is essential to this role: LRA, BCEA, SDA, EEA, OSHACT, COIDA and POP
Education and Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric + relevant tertiary qualification
Experience working on the VIP People system
Experience plus relevant tertiary qualification Diploma / Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Labour Relations, Payroll
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a similar environment with primary responsibility of Human Capital administration, including Payroll related functions
Excellent computer literacy (Microsoft Office – Word and Excel)
Knowledge of related legislation Labour Relations Act (LRA); Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA); Employment Equity Act (EEA); Skills Development Act (SDA); OSHACT and POPI
Required to travel within South Africa Able to work in a fast-paced HC environment
Excellent customer service orientation
Ability to work under pressure
Excellent interpersonal skills – approachable and able to build effective relationships with line
managers and employees at all levels

Provide a strong Payroll administrative support to all Human Capital Employee Life Cycle requirements. These will include; however, it is not limited to include Payroll workflow and process improvements.
The role requires accurate and timely processing of employee payroll information, review of payroll input, to oversee and input salary changes, compensations, deductions, bonus / vacation pay outs and all benefits processing for employees. Strong administrative function pre and post payroll processing. Timely and accurate payroll reconciliations and payroll reports submission for consolidated payroll reporting.
The key activities performed in this position must support the business objectives of maintaining BBEEE status. The Payroll activities must be in line with Income Tax Act, BCEA, EEA, SDLA and OIDA
Prepare and process the monthly payroll input
Follow the payroll processes and ensure strict deadlines are met to ensure that salary run is achieved for employees by 12h00 on the 24th of each month
Assist in the coordination and preparation of monthly payroll inputs from the business units and collate within agreed timeframes for payroll preparation and input
Process payroll input sheets, check the changes and update inputs in payroll system
Conduct all payroll administrative functions as required by regulatory requirements
Ensure that all new employees are correctly and accurately loaded into the payroll system.
Ensure that all employee terminations are accurately processed, UI-19, medical aid and provident fund.
Ensure that all leave transactions are accurate and balances with the input.
Sort and distribute payslips each month
Ensure that all Payroll queries are responded too and resolved within 24 hours (high priority) and 72 for (medium to low priority)
Data Collection for the following Payroll inputs
Employee Leave management
Ensure that the ESS Leave management system is active.
Ensure that employee leave input and calculations are correct.
Print leave variance reports and address all leave anomalies with the branches
Attend to leave queries within 1 day of receipt of query
Reconciliation of Leave to VIP system
Payroll query management
Respond in a timely manner (24 hours) to all Payroll Queries
Provide a detailed response to queries received for Tax, UIF and benefits, payments
Payroll and Human Capital collaboration
Work closely with Human Capital to provide a seamless service to the business,
Research and resolve employee related issues, perform scheduled activities and liaise with service providers
Work with team members for identified Payroll projects that require attention to improve overall (HRIS)
Prepare and maintain standard and ad hoc reports, queries and conduct appropriate audits to ensure employee data integrity
Ensure SHEQ ISO system is implemented and maintained for Payroll
