My Client in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is seeking to employ a Maintenance Technician to join their team

Maintain, repair & optimise the factory general facilities including buildings, yard, carpark and related infrastructure
Conducting routine inspections of premises and infrastructure.
Plan and prepare materials and resources for required work
Perform or oversee work
Ensure sterile manufacturing plant is maintained to standard
Provide specialist support & enhance building and facility infrastructure
Stay abreast of latest industry trends with regards to materials and techniques used in facility and infrastructure maintenance
Guide and oversee activities of Handymen and an assistant
Optimise usage of resources; internal and external
Resolve & eliminate problems
Monitor and initiate acquisition of maintenance material, tools and equipment
Develop network of specialist external service providers in the field of facility maintenance, construction, roofing, water proofing, plumbing, electrical, etc.
Develop preventative maintenance techniques
Pro-actively develop and implement schedules for routine inspections of premises and infrastructure
Perform Root Cause analysis of non-conformities related to facility and infrastructure upkeep. Update or implement preventative measures to avoid recurrence
Participate in team development of preventative measures to avoid unexpected failures of
Ensure a safe healthy and risk free working environment
Apply OHS procedures
Follow Contractor Control procedures
Maintain workplace safety, housekeeping and risk-free standards
Manage compliance to Quality Management Systems
Ensure adherence to all initiatives aimed at minimising impact of technical interventions on product quality
Work in teams
Be familiar with equipment and responsibilities of other Utilities functions including HVAC, Autoclaving, Steam, Water Purification, Electrical, Compressed Air, Vacuum, Cooling and Chilled Water Systems
Communicate effectively in the workplace
Contribute to self and team development
Coaching to improve plant performance
Standby and shift work responsibilities
From time to time carry out other jobs within the department / factory, which are consistent with the grade, qualification and training of the incumbent
Minimum N3 with trade; preferably related to construction or building/infrastructure maintenance
Minimum ten (10) years practical experience in Facilities and building infrastructure maintenance
Experienced at trades applied in general facilities maintenance including construction (concrete, brick, aluminium, wall panelling, roofing, etc), painting, plumbing, flooring (epoxy), carpentry, lights and electrical.
Ability to check manuals, or material catalogues as necessary.
Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, drills, and wrenches.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
Experience performing routine maintenance.
Strong organizational and follow up skills.
Eye for detail and precision.
Professional presentation and attitude.
Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
Strong time management skills.
Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
Good understanding of Engineering disciplines.
Give support and drive multi skilling across engineering and other disciplines, plant infrastructure and equipment, production processes and maintenance teams.
