Cellar Manager (FMCG) Port Elizabeth
Applications are invited for the above mentioned position to be based at Secondary Production, Port Elizabeth. This position reports to the General Manager.
Key performance areas would include, but are not limited to:
Supply the correct quality and quantity bulk product within required specifications timeously at the most cost effective manner to the production operation.
Responsible for the wine, Cider and spirits products.
Manage short and long term planning of bulk products, filter aids and Wine consumables from external suppliers.
Minimise losses of bulk product.
Minimise delays to production due to the unavailability or lateness of product.
Manage, plan and control annual budgets.
Ensure adherence to the annual maintenance plan of all equipment within department.
Management of all quality systems ISO 9001/2000.
Ensure and maintain the integrity of the taste profile of wine, cider and spirits products.
Liaising with all Cellar managers and logistics within the group to ensure timely production of all products.
Liaising with buying departments to ensure the correct product ingredients and lead times is adhered to.
Develop and implement annual departmental business plans and assist in site’s business plan.
To establish a positive and disciplined environment with the workers and manage all HR issues within department.
Manage and control administrative system within department.
Manage department as a business unit.
See to skills development within department to ensure competent and motivated employees.
Adhere to Procedures and measure compliance(ICC)
Actively participate in daily and weekly management meetings.
Must be able to work under pressure and see to queries associated with cellar department.
Innovation and business improvements in support of operational and segment goals.
Actively involved in Department TRACC processes as well as assistance to other departments.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
A relevant BSc degree or National Diploma, Cellar Technology and Winemaking or equivalent qualification.
A minimum of 5 years Cellar experience and knowledge within the Secondary production environment.
Three to five years managerial experience
Display in-depth knowledge of bulk planning methods and procedures.
Display a high level of energy to persist with tasks.
Ability to plan tasks realistically. Allocating time to prioritise and building in contingencies for the department.
Ability to organise resources and effectively delegate tasks to subordinates.
Leading people. (People management and leadership skills.)
Proven computer literacy in SAP & MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) on an advance level of competence.
