One of our exciting clients in the FMCG industry is seeking to appoint a driven and ambitious Commercial Business Manager to be responsible for handling the analysis requested from management team or key stakeholders and provide relevant, valuable strategic recommendations on the company’s current markets and potential new markets in Southern and Eastern African. The role is responsible for commercial and financial analyses of M&S strategies and an advisor to support the organization to identify business opportunities and shaping strategies across the business with solid insights and actionable recommendations. To work collectively with cross-functional teams and support the organization to shape business strategies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial modelling of business cases and projects inclusive scenario and sensitivity analysis.
Modelling and due diligence relating to potential targets for acquisition.
Determine ROI on potential investments and advise whether feasible.
Provide input into final decision to invest.
Measure investments and business cases post-implementation for performance against plan.
Support end month processes by preparing and consolidating BW and SAP reports (Cost Centre main Checks, Manual P&L) together with promptly preparation of allocation and distribution cycles.
Product Costing and Pricing Strategy.
Manage the costing process and methodology for all products in the business.
Review product pricing with product teams and ensure pricing per product is in line with cost-plus desired margin whilst remaining competitive in the respective market.
Deliver periodic brand performance reports in high quality. Connect the s to uncover business opportunities and potential threats.
Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon manager’s request.
Identify trends (market or internal) and areas for improvement in commercial aspects, communicate this to stakeholders and initiate an action plan.
Provide recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
Utilise negotiation skills in pricing to maximise margin and create client value.
Coordination, preparation and updating of annual and strategic plans and budgeting models. This involves analysis of actual business performance vs set targets, gathering and consolidating information from various departments to meet submission requirements.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Management Reporting
Manage and own the budget, forecast and month-end processes.
Ensure controls are in place as well as processes and policies are adhered to.
Review and analyse management reports and present results to the executive management.
To assess industry trends, regulatory changes and monitor competitor activities to ensure deliverables compliment strategic and tactical thinking.
Provide Support on Data and Functionality studies.
Manage and handle the process from cross-function pre-alignment, working with external agency, questionnaire design, fieldwork monitoring, and executive summary preparation.
Perform any other tasks given by the direct manager.
Desired Experience & Qualification
University degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or similar
3-5 years’ work experience as Business analyst/Commercial management or in a similar Financial role.
In-depth knowledge of forecasting and budgeting controls will be an added advantage.
2-5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst (Planning and Financial / Business modelling)
2-5 years’ experience in a business development role taking projects from design/concept stage through planning/building and implementation
Fluency in English speaking and writing is required. Fluency in French or Portuguese (relevant to geographical region) will be advantageous.
Good presentation skills, proficiency in PowerPoint and good working knowledge of Excel.
Willing and capable to travel regularly to the company’s locations (with Southern and Central Africa) as per each project requirements (Depending on the Projects’ schedule the time spend away from the home location may reach 10-25% of the total working time)
