Our client is seeking Enrolled Nursing Auxillary (ENA) to be based in the southern suburbs of Cape Town for frail care at various retirement villages.
Duties & Responsibilities
Capable of recognising the need for action, considering possible risks and taking responsibility for results
Capable of making decisions timeously and taking responsibility for the consequences
Capacity to plan, organise and control own work environment by setting appropriate priorities and achieving set objectives within a given time frame
The capacity to identify and respond to the needs of the patient
The capacity to improve systems and processes to facilitate continuous improvement
Capacity to instil an ethic of quality and consistency in self
Capacity to establish constructive and effective relationships
Capacity to clearly present information, either written or verbal
Capacity to perform a technical function to required standards
Duties include the following, but not limited to:
Daily involvement with all aspects of care
Recording of observations, care given and resident’s response
Ensure that basic needs and activities of daily living are met.
Implement mobility/exercise and activity program for all resident.
Ensure special diets given as per care plan.
Monitor and record fluid balance, elimination status and nutritional state.
Report any change in health status to Professional Nurse and/or Doctor.
Supervise other care workers
Record any falls, incidents, etc
Report any unusual occurrences/incidents to the Professional Nurse or Nursing Manager.
Attend official meetings as required.
Provide emotional support for residents and relatives
General environmental hygiene to be maintained.
Soiled linen and clothing to be sent to laundry daily.
Clean clothing and linen to be sorted and stored appropriately.
Implement infection control measures as directed.
Ensure privacy, confidentiality and safety of resident, property and reputation.
Prevent abuse, victimisation or discrimination of residents and staff.
Utilise correct channels of communication to resolve conflicts, problems and grievances.
Be personally conversant with organisational disciplinary code.
Be conversant with emergency first aid and fire drill procedures.
A relevant nursing qualification
Registration with SANC
Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with the elderly
Excellent English and Afrikaans communication skills
Committed to clinical excellence
Able and willing to learn new procedures and technique
Effective patient care
Salary: Market based Remuneration
