Our client based in Ladysmith is urgently seeking an experienced Group HR/ IR Manager.
Minimum 10 years experience
Experience in manufacturing company is an advantage
Overall Job Purpose:
To guide and manage the overall provision of Human Resources function to the Ladysmith plant. Manage and implement policies and programs for Ladysmith through planning and implementing pro-active IR strategies & progressive HR activities, maintaining discipline at all levels, facilitate training, development and performance management initiatives, facilitating recruitment of staff, ensuring accurate HR Administration, reporting as well as adherence to safety norms & statutory requirements, networking with external agencies (Industrial Bodies, Associations) and effectively managing employee welfare services within corporate guidelines of SRSA with the objective of ensuring smooth operations in the group. To manage and facilitate activities around expatriate accommodation and welfare, CSI projects and other related matters.

Monitor and managed manpower planning and utilisation in order to ensure the availability of manpower.
Preparation and monitoring of all manpower budgets
Monitoring and reporting on absenteeism
Develop succession planning models and aggressively pursue the development and placement of identified individuals
Timeous recruitment and placement of qualified and appropriately skilled staff in line with the company’s employment equity initiatives
Effective on-boarding of all new / promoted staff
Implementing and co-ordinating the company performance management & improvement processes & systems in order to drive the performance culture and meet company objectives
Manage appropriate and timely individual KRA setting, quarterly and annual review process for the plant.
Monitoring staff performance and facilitating performance improvement processes where necessary
Facilitating performance standards and productivity improvements
Support the training needs analysis and annual training plan with the training department in order to facilitate progression on individual development plans and improve employee capabilities
Liaise with training department on identified needs and ensure delivery of training plan
Monitor training statistics and performance indicators against plans
Develop and maintain a healthy employee relations environment in order to ensure a harmonious work environment. Ensure Ubumbano process is active and operational
Monitor and advise on the consistent, fair and equitable application of disciplinary and grievance process
Manage and update union / shop steward communications and forums on operational issues
Assist with building sound relations between management, unions and staff through facilitating various applicable initiatives
Liaise / consult with company lawyers as and when necessary on difficult or complicated issues
Prepare cases for and represent the company at CCMA
Keep abreast of legislative requirements and amendments and proactively identify and put steps in place to mitigate potential risk in the company in order to ensure legal compliance to all applicable labour legislation
Be familiar with and understand all applicable labour legislation
Advise line and staff regarding all legal ramifications of decisions and or actions
Engage line and staff in all potential risks identified regarding noncompliance or amendments and plan and implement mitigation strategies
Develop and or update HR policies and procedures and documentation to reflect legislative and operational needs.
Communicate and give support to all HR policies and procedures
Produce and analyse HR reports and metrics in order to identify & mitigate potential risks to the company as well support the achievement of the company’s objectives
Run, analyse and discuss various reports and statistics with line management
Plan and implement mitigation strategies for problem areas identified
Implement health, safety and welfare programs that assist with and improve employee well being and productivity
Research alternatives for and implement Employee Assistance and Wellbeing programs that address the priority needs of the organisation and staff.
Manage expat accommodation, welfare and work permits
Facilitate accommodation needs and liase with landlords regarding day to day problems.
Liaise with relevant institutions to apply for work permits when required
Provide leadership to the department through goal setting, capabilities development, performance feedback and career planning, help recruit and retain competent and high performing staff in order to ensure departmental service delivery and achievement of departmental goals
Manage departments KPA process
Manage all performance management aspects of direct reports and facilitate the same within the rest of the department
Assist staff with career planning, training and development through identification and communication of needs to the HR Dept
Manage all discipline and grievance aspects of direct reports and facilitate the same within the rest of the department
Be intricately involved in department placements and ensure that they are in line with the company’s employment equity initiatives
Identify and mentor competent and high performance staff
Facilitate and run Ad-hoc HR and CSI projects in order to enhance HR and CSI Strategy implementation
