Job Description:
Responsible for management and technical requirements of the laboratory and ensures a complete and effective laboratory service to the production and other service departments
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage the overall technical quality of the work performed in the laboratory.
Manage all the management requirements of the laboratory.
Management of all personnel in the laboratory.
Ensure management procedures, applicable standards and specifications are followed.
Develop job descriptions for staff working in their departments.
Ensure that sufficiently qualified, skilled and trained personnel and other resources are available to perform the assigned tasks.
Ensure that job descriptions, tasks lists and training records are maintained to demonstrate staff competence for the assigned tasks.
Ensure that the laboratory has appropriate equipment and supplies.
Review and approve analytical method validation protocols and stability study protocols.
Manage the maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the laboratory operation.
Manage initial and ongoing equipment qualification and preventive maintenance.
Manage procedures for handling out-of-specification situations, failure investigations, root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action plans.
Identify and report any opportunities to improve efficiency, and quality and customer satisfaction.
Management of laboratory budget, Opex and Capex.
Manage contact with other “Company” global sites.
Assure compliance with ISO 17025, OHSAS 18001, ISO/ TS 16949, QSB & VDA 6.3
To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed. (this standard should be used in all job descriptions, amending the pink font according to the level of person)
Desired Experience & Qualification
BSc. Degree in Analytical chemistry or equivalent qualification
Minimum of 5-years’ experience in supervising >10 people
Advanced knowledge of laboratory instrumentation specific to an application
Technical Knowledge:
Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation specific to a particular application.
Demonstrated experience in understanding and resolving extraordinary problems with equipment, instruments, staff and laboratory results.
Good knowledge of the analysis systems in use within “Company”.
Experience in analytical method development, equipment commissioning; correlation and validation, and statistical analysis of laboratory data would be advantageous.
Demonstrated experience in complex sample preparation techniques and instrumental analysis techniques
Computer literacy and knowledge of in-house information systems such as PLC and SPC/PDT and WRMS and SAP and MES
2 years in a management or supervisory capacity and demonstrated experience in the management or supervision of staff
