Sandringham Gardens was established in 1912 and incorporated into the Chevrah Group in 2000. This facility has been taking care of the needs of older persons for close to 100 years. It is home to over 500 elderly people, approximately 300 of whom are in need of long-term, intensive medical and nursing care.
The Sandringham Gardens hospital, which forms part of the Chevrah's Community Medical Centre, has a full complement of nursing staff, General Practitioners and access to consulting Specialists. It also provides dentistry, optometry, audiology and speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry and radiology services and has a fully-stocked dispensary. Hearing aids, spectacles and mobility aids are made available to patients and residents. A team of social workers offer supportive counselling to residents and family members.
To co-ordinate and carry out physiotherapy services.
Job Summary (Key performance areas)
Patient Care – To promote the well-being of patients and residents in Sandringham Gardens
Administration – To promote efficiency in the day to day running of the department
Communication – To promote and ensure effective communication
Supervision – To provide effective and adequate supervision to assistants
Training and development – to ensure that all staff are kept updated on new treatments techniques and current trends in physiotherapy.
Good interpersonal communication
Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team as well as independently
Good record keeping skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft office and Excel
Flexibility and adaptability
Job Requirements (i.e. qualifications, experience, competencies, professional body registrations)
Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
Current Registration with the HPCSA
A minimum of 3 years working experience especially working as part of an interdisciplinary team
Good knowledge of physiotherapy treatment interventions and rehabilitation
Experience working with people with disabilities
Experience with staff supervision and training
Experience working in geriatrics a plus
Medical Aid and provident fund
working hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00 - 16:30 Friday 8:00 - 14:30
