Our client based in Johannesburg South is looking for a Fleet Controller to assist the Logistics Manager with day-to-day fleet management tasks such as procurement, reporting, co-coordinating, administration and controlling whilst maintaining and implementing company policies, procedures and standards, as well as to monitor and run the fleet efficiently with the best fuel consumption possible
Duties & Responsibilities
Education and Minimum Requirements
A relevant tertiary qualification in the logistics field
3-5 years relevant practical experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
Willingness to long hours and overtime as and when required
Willingness to learn
Must be computer literate
Reliable and assertive
Pro-active and ability to take initiative
Knowledge of vehicle tracking systems (C-Track)
Good verbal and written communications skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Systematic, neat & methodical
Problem solving and organisational skills
Pro-active and dynamic
Attention to detail
Route planning must be done before a vehicle gets dispatched. Routes must be handed over to the Junior Fleet Controller to issue.
To manage the fuel systems daily, ensuring they are in working order and check for theft
Ensure that all POD's of the fleet are collected and handed in weekly
Check drivers fuel consumption daily, and immediately report drivers that are not up to standard to your Logistics manager, thereafter, take required disciplinary action.
Assisting and updating drivers with their queries.
Problem identifying and solving of Company vehicles in terms of operation and resource.
Receiving, allocating and dispatching of company vehicles.
Updating and maintaining company vehicle allocation file with relevant information such as driver / services / repairs / costing / travel usage etc.
Arranging company vehicles for services and repairs.
Submit invoices for payment.
Responsible for all licensing and registration needs.
Reporting of all accidents to the Logistics Manager and submitting forms to insurance for any accident / damage to company vehicles.
Manage weekly vehicle inspection done by line managers and update inspection on asset file.
Reconcile / investigate and update monthly fuel usage.
Identify occupational and operational risks as per demographical area and driver.
In an event of an accident ensure that all relevant information is submitted.
Live in process active delivery dilemmas
Cross Border Control – Invoice versus payment verification
C-Track and control reports
Branches – Daily operational requirements
General Investigations for employee transgressions
Assist in defining control systems for Fuel, maintenance and tyre management
Manage control processes in terms of fuel, maintenance and tyre management.
Manage all service providers relating to Fleet related purchases
Manage all pre-defined exceptions with regard Fleet management
Ensure that all license etc. are renewed in time
Create and managing control system for vehicle maintenance and monitor controls
Handling administrative tasks
Assisting in sorting out customer problems and assisting drivers with problems
Communicating factory problems to the customer
Overseeing and managing Supervisor activities
Providing support and guidance to internal departments in the company
Lead and apply proper disciplinary action against Supervisors/Drivers/Assistants
Any other duties that may reasonably be expected of you within the company from time to time
