Job Description:
Our client based in Johannesburg is looking for an Ops Supply Chain Manager. The role entails the development and implementation of global strategies to optimize logistics, inventory and warehousing costs, through management and collaboration of a broad team structure and engagement with key stakeholders
Duties & Responsibilities
Qualifications
An undergraduate qualification (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Senior management experience in an industry with high inventory turnover / stock velocities is a distinct advantage
At least ten years’ experience at senior management level in a relevant discipline
Competencies
Evidence of ability to complete work of LoW III complexity
Consistently displays a positive and engaged manner
Motivated, consistently works to best of ability to meet performance criteria
Strives to do things significantly better
The SC discipline with specific reference to warehousing and logistics
Competent in operational and warehouse activities
Systems expertise (SAP, Optimiser) desirable
Experience in an industry with high inventory turnover / stock velocities
Provides a consistent outstanding role model in relation to safety practices with a deep
understanding of the importance of safety
Leads purchasing or inventory teams and is able to contribute to improving performance in these areas
Develops and manages plans to implement best practices and Optimises layout of warehouse
and flow of materials
Responsibilities
Deliver sustainable cost and working capital reductions across our operations and projects
Proactively leverage supply market opportunities and supplier partnerships to create a competitive advantage
Eliminate value leakage by managing supplier performance through the contract life-cycle
Work together to improve service delivery at our operations
Contribute, through local procurement, to socio-economic development in our host communities
Drive for a cost-effective Supply Chain through streamlined processes and smart systems
Drive innovation to ensure most effective and efficient processes as well as enhanced end user
interfaces
Leading Physical Supply Chain, Including logistics, warehouse management, and distribution.
Develop inventory optimisation plans, including consolidation of storage via the central DC’s, and implement these for each operation.
Managing of end user requirements in particular GM’s of operations and Commercial Managers to ensure optimal supply and availability of inventory at the right levels
Executive engagement for key strategic projects if and when required e.g. Inventory optimisation
Developing policies and procedures to ensure consistent ways of working across the operations
Ensure correct utilisation of systems (e.g. SAP, Warehouse Management Application, and
Emptoris) for recording managing and reporting of activity and Supply Chain
performance. Ensure timely and correct input of new data into such systems
Act as interface and foster collaboration across Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure operations requirements are fully considered in any logistic or sourcing activity
Be an effective leader and team member by demonstrating a commitment to safety and positive working behaviours
