Our Client is a global NGO with a regional office in Cape Town. They have an opportunity for Head of Finance who will be responsible for the grant making processes of the fund. Working closely with grantees, the Finance Officer will ensure there is timely disbursal of grants and will be responsible for tracking the progress of grants, supporting grantees and reporting on the financial components.
Duties & Responsibilities
Working with the Global team, you will be responsible for carrying out due diligence on applicants of the fund and reporting to the Project Advisory Group (PAG) to support grant decisions. Key responsibilities include
Managing the grant making processes
Ensure all procedures and policies are followed for due diligence, grant contracting, budget tracking and financial reporting.
Work closely with grantees to understand the requirements of a grant recipient around the use of funds and reporting.
Monitor the financial performance of the grants and report on the progress
Support the review of the grant applications, from a finance perspective, and ensure compliance to financial processes and donor requirements.
Develop grant management guidance for the Fund for use by the grantees.
Carry out due diligence on
Develop the contracting and grant documentation for approval and disbursement
Work with grantees around expectations of grant recipients and monitor progress with grant spend.
Flag any delays in the disbursal, spend or reporting processes of the grants and promptly report any financial mismanagement or other concerns related to the grants.
Develop quarterly reports on the HER Voice Fund progress.
Contribute to the development of the M&E framework to measure success of the fund and the collection of data to measure the performance of fund grants from a financial perspective.
Keeping all financial records accurate and up to date.
Desired Experience & Qualification
To qualify, you will need:
A formal Accounting qualification
At least 3 years’ experience of working in a financial management role
Experience of packages for financial management
Experience of working with non-profit organisations
Experience of small grant making would bean advantage
