The purpose of this role is to provide legal support and assistance, including commercial support, contract maintenance and management, to all Commercial Legal Advisors - with a focus on data protection across the Group.
The Senior Legal Assistant reports directly to the Commercial Legal - Data Protection & Engineering. The Senior Legal Assistant is responsible for providing legal support and assistance to all Commercial Legal Advisors but primarily in respect of data protection.
Internal liaison will be with all business units within the group. External liaison takes place with external stakeholders such as business partners and regulatory administration offices.
Duties and Responsibilities (Include but is not limited to):
Co-ordinate and manage administrative type communications and applications required by the relevant data protection regulatory bodies and handle complex projects;
Create, organise and maintain a suitable electronic filing system/s and database/s which includes helping to implement and maintain a legal contract management system; and carry out legal research.
Draft and proofread written correspondence and legal documents, such as but not limited to contracts, regulatory correspondence and partner onboarding administrative documents
Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of legal advice
Register with and keep up to date on regulatory announcements and notices with respect to the applicable data protection authorities with the purpose of communicating such announcements and notices to the Commercial Legal Advisor
Assist with paperwork needed by regulatory bodies
Perform general administrative duties
Minute taking and responding to requests for information
Write reports, including reports on the status of certain projects
Organize and maintain documents in an electronic filing system
Keep proper record of each project or task, as well as a current status update on the various elements of those tasks in a well organised environment which is transparent and accessible to team members.
Liaise and network with internal stakeholders from various business units across the group and external stakeholders such as attorneys, other professionals and business partners of the group and build valuable relationships with a high level of professionalism
Gather and analyse information, legal articles, documents and other data
Analyse and input legal data
Desired Experience & Qualification
Grade 12/or equivalent (Essential)
Degree / Diploma in related field (Desirable)
Certificate of Completion from an approved Paralegal Certification Program of Education and Training, or an Associate Degree in paralegal studies (Highly Desirable)
Computer proficient (Office Suite - specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel)
