Lean / Six Sigma Leader_Global Construction / Projects Services company located in Johannesburg required to conduct process improvement projects skilled in informatics, digital cloud solutions and operational excellence with extensive travel nationally and internationally when required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Key Management Team, the incumbent works with the operations teams to prepare and conduct process improvement events. The incumbent will develop and prepare materials for use in the Lean Projects, coordinate with department management and participants, lead, instruction on the use of process improvement tools, facilitate team decisions, manage team work, resolve team conflict, assist in the development of implementation action plans and conduct follow-ups on actions, norm development.. All Lean activities will be done in express fulfilment of the Client’s Lean Philosophy and Programme. The scope of this role is to be delivered in the realm of the Client’s Digital Roadmap program, embracing informatics, digital cloud solutions, dashboards and interfaces to meet the future digital needs of the company. The incumbent is a core resource in the company’s mission to be the most efficient and reliable services provider in the industrial services market.
The main responsibilities are:
Leads and Delivers through Lean Journey Targets with the support of local management.
Develops proposals for Lean projects, launches tracks and coaches, and advises and consults local management to select suitable local projects for conducting a lean project
Conducts various special Local Lean projects per year.
Enables and motivates project management teams to identify and eliminate waste through application of Introduces Lean tools, methodologies and new process standards
Transfers Lean Management methodology and process knowledge to project and administrative department management teams, to enable them to continue with Lean Management methodologies on future projects on their own
Rigorously interrogates and manages performance and productivity data
Measures performance and follows-up implementation of lean projects in the country Develops and collects best practices and shares them with the Regional Lean Leader
Liaises with group corporate Operational Excellence Lean team and supports best practice transfer in the country.
Organizes and performs Lean Management education/training for operational managers (project manager, construction manager, site supervisor, site manager, foremen, workshop manager etc.) and staff.
Reports regularly on Lean Journey to local top management
Plans and manages the Lean departmental budget.
Competencies / professional skills:
3 5 years’ (preferred) Continuous improvement experience in Lean and Six Sigma environment with exposure to digitalization, innovation, operations excellence, informatics aspects.
The minimum education level would be Matric, with Diploma level (NQF6) Lean qualification or Industrial Engineering with management experience preferable.
Certification in Information Systems / Project Management and working in industrial / construction sector will be an added advantage.

Work Base:
The company is based in Johannesburg, but the incumbent would be required to roll out the Lean programmes across all the Client’s sites nationally and within the Sub Sahara Africa region.
The Group has Headquarters in Europe and operations around the world, so the incumbent may also be required to travel outside South Africa from time to time to represent the company in the Lean programme.
Whilst based on the Client’s sites the incumbent will be required to work Project Working Hours and comply with other and Project and Site Conditions.
