My client in the electrical industry is looking for a Geared Motor Specialist to join their team in Sandton.

The main purpose of the role is as follows:
To be the main responsible geared motor specialist in the organisation.
To take responsibility for sales, proposals, engineering, project co-ordination and technical support for all aspects within the business.
Be responsible for the initial setup and organisation to start the geared motor business.
Develop the business for the organisation to ensure sustainable growth.
Liaise with the various departments within the company to understand capabilities and keep abreast with any new technologies or solutions being developed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sales and Business Development:
Be responsible for the initial setup and organisation to start the geared motor business. This includes all aspects of the business. This includes, but is not limited to: liaison with the company, market research, department structure, workshop and assembly organisation, cost and sales budget, quotation structures, costing structures, technical and sales documentation and after sales service.
Start up the geared motor business within the company branches.
Develop and pursue aggressive sales and business development strategies to ensure growth.
Generate business from new and existing customers.
Liaise with customers and keep abreast of all current and future prospects.
Receiving and processing of customer enquiries in line with the customers technical requirements.
Review customer specifications to ensure compliance.
Take full responsibility for all tender and quotations documentation.
Formulate quotations and tenders.
Create and complete costing BOQ’s.
Co-ordinate and review cost calculations to ensure accurate pricing.
imely management of tender activities.
Ensure all technical literature included as part of the tender document is the most relevant and up to date information.
Co-ordinate completion of all returnable schedules, including but not limited to technical, commercial, financial, SHE and QA/QC documentation.
Complete proposal methodologies and executive summaries.
Maintain and continuously improve internal systems and procedures.
Provide feedback of all proposals submitted on a weekly and monthly basis
Regular and scheduled sales visits to customers.
Keeping an up-to-date customer database.
Provide technical support within the company to customers.
Dealing with customer queries on technical issues.
A recognised technical tertiary qualification (National Certificate, B. Tech, B.Sc. or similar)
A Professional Registration with ECSA would be an added advantage.
At least 5 years’ experience in the geared motor and gearbox industry.
Computer literacy – good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project
The successful candidate must be a self-motivated, energetic person with both strong people skills and organisational ability.
A legal driver’s licence.
A valid passport.
Willingness and freedom to travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays away from home base.
Both in and out of the office, as the tasks demand.
Position requires out of town travel (nationally and internationally).
Is subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays should the need arise.
Requires attendance and participation in continuing educational programs designed to keep the employee abreast of changes in their profession.
