Excellent opportunity for a strong EE/AA leader with relevant experience as Production Manager with a National Diploma / Degree to manage, lead and develop a team to achieve agreed standards for Output; Quality produced; Machine utilisation and downtime; Team accountability for performance; continuous improvements; shop floor planning, leading and controlling; Factory rules and regulations and Safe and best working conditions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for all 3 production shifts.
Apply the Company’s Disciplinary Code of Conduct
Direct sub-ordinates in accordance with department requirements.
Initiate actions to meet production, quality, process and warehousing requirements.
In accordance with quality system requirements, hold/stop production processes on non-conforming products.
In accordance with Company procedures and operational requirements and approval, recruit and terminate employees in production.
After normal hours, be responsible for the plant as Attendant Plant Manager.
Assist with the development of policies and procedures and execute these at every level in the production operations.
Establish and monitor production standards and performance, safety programs and quality assurance requirements.
Ensure cost effective operations in production to minimise waste – i.e. scrap, downtime, etc.
Ensure maximum utilisation of machinery, equipment and labour in accordance with production schedules and plans.
Ensure that production machinery, tools and equipment are monitored to function effectively to meet Customer Orders. Ensure TPM is practised fully in production.
Effectively and swiftly handle Customer complaints relating to production.
Continually re-evaluate production capacity and technology to identify areas for improvement.
Ensure housekeeping and safe working practices are maintained at a high standard in the production department.
Ensure that the company’s PS is fully applied and maintained in the production areas.
Production Shopfloor Planning, Controlling and Leading
Ensure timely production of orders in line with agreed customer requirements/call-offs.
Monitor and check accuracy of sequencing of customer orders.
Monitor and report production status if needed including hoy count boards and Shopfloor Management KPI’s
Ensure that material shortages are attended to urgently to avoid/minimise stoppages.
Ensure that parts on production line shelves/bins are correctly identified.
Ensure that low stock levels on the line are highlighted to the Warehouse Manager to avoid stoppages.
Ensure that only the latest change levels of parts are used on the line.
Ensure that parts leaving the line are correctly identified.
Identify training needs and ensure continuous training and development of production employees. Institute and monitor effective training and development programmes.
Ensure that production employees comply with HR policies and procedures, with particular reference to recruitment, induction, training, development and industrial relations.
Motivate and monitor staff, create effective team building and a climate conductive to continuous improvement.
Provide an environment conducive to sound labour relations and high productivity.
Monitor and control department expenditure to ensure budget compliance.
Be on standby to assist the shift supervisors 24 hours a day
Desired Experience & Qualification
A degree/diploma in Production Management or Industrial/Mechanical Engineering
8-10 years’ experience in a production/manufacturing environment at management level in an automotive assembly field.
Working knowledge and experience in O.E.M. quality systems and modern manufacturing/production techniques.
Experience in TQM and world-class techniques.
Comprehensive ability in English and the local language an advantage.
Comfortable with internet and intranet customer portals
Experienced in SAP

Package & Remuneration
R40 000 - R50 000 p.m. neg depending on experience and qualifications.
