Based in Pretoria East, our client is recruiting a Financial Manager to establish and maintain financial and management procedures in the overall finance function within the Group, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Provide guidance and support to the CEO in interpreting and analysing financial and business issues in order to drive operating performance.
Duties & Responsibilities
This role requires a thorough understanding of all aspects of the business to be able to adequately advise and support the Chief Executive Officer in decision-making and ensuring company growth and profitability.
Strategy and Planning
Provide input into the Company strategic planning and share accountability for results with the CEO.
Collate, prepare and interpret reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries and financial statements.
Undertake research into pricing, competitors and factors affecting performance, and adjust margins, and charge out rates accordingly.
Review company bottlenecks and recommend changes to improve the overall level of company throughput.
Proactively monitor financial and cash flow trends, predicting future trends and planning accordingly.
Act as the financial expert and advise the CEO in strategic decision-making.
Prepare the company's budget in line with and in support of the Company’s strategic plans and submit for approval to the CEO.
Manage operational income and expenditure against budget, and prepare monthly and quarterly updates of budget forecasts for management.
Report to the CEO the variances from the established budget specifically those that could negatively impact the profitability and sustainability of the Company, making recommendations on how to mitigate and address the risk.
Formulate and implement the plans covering:
Debtor management to be in line with the credit policy;
Trade finance and working capital management;
Foreign exchange policy and management;
Cashflow and activities;
Timely production of consolidated financial statements and management accounts; and
Maintaining compliance with IFRS and statutory regulations.
Conduct a monthly review of trial balance and balance sheet items for each Business Unit.
Conduct a monthly reconciliation on all balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, debtors, creditors and intra- and inter-company balances.
Control income, cash flow and expenditure to ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational requirements, highlighting ahead of time if there predicted cashflow constraints.
Conduct reviews and evaluations to identify and implement cost-reducing activities.
Interpret the company's financial results for the CEO and supplement with further qualifications, analysis, and comments.
Assist in the determination of product and service pricing in relation to service offering and competitor pricing.
Compile key business metrics for reporting.
Create additional analyses and reports as requested by senior management.
Carry out business risk assessments, and implement actions to mitigate the risks
Ensure the correct processing of foreign creditors and foreign exchange calculations.
Liaise with the bank as and when required.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance (CA / CIMA) and completed articles
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position
Previous experience in multiple currencies is required
Previous experience in a company reporting into a group structure is an advantage
Logistics, Financial Services, Financial Technology or Consumer Financial Services experience preferred
Good understanding of financial, tax and commercial legislation across multiple African territories
