Research and Development
Researches and develops, new and existing products and equipment, with considerations to, functionality, cost, durability, strengths of materials, lead times and ease of manufacture.
With the aim of improving procedures or technology, which exceeds our current ability or offerings.
Draws from scratch or modifies, a complete set of manufacturing drawings, including, General Arrangement, Process and Instrumentation Diagram, Plant layouts, Weld maps, Maintenance instructions et al.
Ensures quality and functionality of the final product, in the factory or on site, before it is handed over to the customer.
Plans a full set of drawings. With the aid of the project planner, allocates deadlines to each, and is responsible for meeting all deadlines.
Regularly checks on the manufacturing progress of his allocated project and resolves or reports on any concerns.
Ensure all projects are filed logically and as per procedure.
Libraries are kept neat and functional and design considerations are documented and filed into the correct project.
Is responsible for understanding the full implications of the design and applying considerations such as;
Transportation: Cradles, Rigging methods, Container constraints, customer site constraints.
Electrical: Electrical panel placement, cable runs, cable supports, lighting push buttons, motors, heating elements, instrumentation et al.
Pneumatic: Specification of pneumatic components, pneumatic diagrams, pneumatic fitment and testing.
Printing: Name plates, Decals, Hose collars, Tags.
Documentation: All drawings are updated, and the final product matches the general arrangement drawings. For small manufactured systems, the Standard operating procedures or Functional Design specification must be complete.
