The incumbent will be responsible to ensure that the most appropriate strategies are developed and followed with regard to the introduction of Instrumentation and Control Systems.
Ensuring that process control and instrumentation requirements are satisfied with design solutions appropriate to the technical skills levels developed within the organisation;
Ensuring adequate standardization of new instrumentation and control systems with other systems already developed or in the process of being developed or deployed;
Ensure maintainability and support to the maintenance department to resolve non-routine maintenance problems.
Assist with the development of new control philosophies for new plant designs;
Development of functional flow diagrams, associated logic control diagrams and loop diagrams for new process instrumentation and control systems;
Development of system layout and installation diagrams;
Configuring the instrumentation part of PID’S;
Programming of PLC’s and SCADA and developing commissioning manuals;
Arrange and perform acceptance testing; and
Design documents, system design manuals, set point manual, alarm manual, technical specification, system and equipment layout and installation related information.
Systems Engineering – a good comprehension of the lifecycle phases used in systems engineering to progressively ensure traceability of eventual product designs to user requirements.
Legislation and Regulations – sound knowledge and understanding of the need for engineering baseline documentation required for regulatory and licensing requirements.
A consistent awareness of the requirements that will ensure a safe working environment.
The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.
The ability to identify and resolve problems in the best interest of all stakeholders.
The ability to manage time effectively and efficiently in accordance with work priorities to ensure qualitative outcomes.
The ability to develop appropriate plans to ensure that objectives are met.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Experience & Qualification
An Engineering qualification, preferably B.Engineering in Electronics or Mechatronics;
Relevant formal qualification in SCADA, PLC and Instrumentation Systems;
Preferably ten (10) years’ technical hands on experience in the design, development and implementation of control and instrumentation systems.
