Job Function To manage the processes, teams and resources accountable for risk, quality, environmental, health and safety management, contributing to operational effectiveness, client / customer satisfaction, reduced risk, profitability and compliance to relevant policies and regulatory requirements Key Performance Areas Act as advisor to Management and employees on SHE and Risk related matters, such as best practices, statutory changes and requirements and the Company’s SHERQ Management System. Undertake hazard identification and review risk assessment. Effectively and efficiently implement, maintain, review and continually improve the Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk and Quality Management system, strategies, procedures and policies, whilst ensuring compliance with the applicable minimum legal and other requirements. Encourage and foster the attitude and mind-set of all employees and contractors to recognise health and safety. Convene SHERQ related meetings and SHERQ related inspections as well as audits within the various departments, contracts/offsites and contractors. Conduct SHE related training and education programmes. Report, investigate and implement Incident and Accident preventative and corrective action follow ups inclusive of implementation and closure of audit findings. Assist with SHERQ Reporting, general SHERQ admin and compiling data for Operations and Risk Department to support internal reporting and statistics. Plan preventative and remedial methods to promote healthy and safe working environment Maintenance and review of in-house QMS Software and Accident Reporting Software. Qualifications required National Senior Certificate or equivalent SAMTRAC/NADSAM and/or equivalent SHE qualification Computer literacy (excel, word, PowerPoint – Intermediate or Advanced Level) Skills and experience required SHE and Risk qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position with knowledge of the Logistics industry is advantageous especially in a high risk environment. Individual with high energy levels, enthusiastic, courteous with sound and good inter-personal communication skills and positive attitude that will be able to use own initiative as well as the ability proactive assist with problem-solving. Ability to prioritise effectively and display sound judgement. Results orientated with exceptional organising, sound feedback and follow-up skills Excellent level of computer literacy on complete Microsoft Office (competency test will be undertaken); Desired – ability to work on SHERQ software License Code 08 is essential due to travel Experience in Risk and SHEQ environment is desired with similar environment experience and knowledge of SHERQ related legislation and SANS Standards including RTMS: 1395-1 and ISO 9001:2015 or similar ISO protocols is advantageous; Other Requirements Strong communication principals and report writing skills Problem solving techniques Strong sense of responsibility and prioritising Team player High work ethic Self-motivated and proactive Integrity and accountability Passion and Energy: Passionate about finding solutions, positive and “can do” attitude and attention to detail Recognition and respect: Professionalism, ability to build and maintain professional relationships Commitment and pride: Flexibility in approach and thinking, involvement and contribution to employer and industry
