Our client is based in Chloorkop, looking for a Regional Sales Manager.
The portfolio will suit a knowledgeable, skilled, practical, enthusiastic and highly energised person with comprehensive knowledge of formal, wholesale and to an extent informal retail.
The Regional Sales Manager will need to perform a hybrid role of Handling the Key Accounts in the Geographic area as well as Co-Ordinate & Managing Sales Operations.
The Geographic area includes Inland Provinces of South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia and Botswana and any other country that might be added in the future business
Duties & Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the position will be to increase sales growth and Brand share within relevant geographical sales areas and accounts. This will require actively driving and implementing the agreed above and below the line marketing activity at store level, by giving the sales team responsible for the area, a clear set of objectives and direction in order to achieve this
The incumbent will be responsible for the management of a team of Key Account Managers, Field Sales Managers, Field Sales Supervisors and Agents to ensure that set Targets and standards are achieved and exceeded & the team is structured to operate to maximum efficiencies & adapted with the changes internally & externally.
Clear communication to Sales Teams is required to ensure minimum in store standards are achieved
Regular analysis of Sales data available from Customers and the Company database is key to identify opportunities and problem areas in the Trade
Complete annual/quarterly/monthly action plans to achieve targets
Review achievement by Key Accounts Managers on a regular basis to manage the territory effectively
Structure Trade visits effectively within the Region to ensure maximum Sales focus from own Sales Team and Agents
Ensure that agreed category management is communicated to the Sales Team for implementation
KEY ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
Retail and Wholesale Key Accounts (KAM) on a Regional Level will be a Key Focus (KPI)
Sales targets and Budgets need to be achieved within the relevant Key accounts
Account activity needs to be aligned with the Marketing activity grid
Implementation of new product listings, price increases and promotional activity
New Product launches to be presented to Key Accounts
Conduct monthly review meetings with National & Regional buyers
Account pricing needs maintained within set parameters with ongoing awareness of opposition activity to ensure sales growth
The system pricing and Trade costs need to be aligned to alleviate and unnecessary pricing claims, strict administrative discipline needs to be adhered to at all times
Sustain positive and effective relationships with the trade (customer centric) and Sales Teams
Liaise effectively with Sales Team and Agents
Build effective relationships with key people in the industry
Understand National & Regional Key account strategies to align the business where possible
Trade Contact Reports for all account meetings are to be distributed to Sales and Marketing Teams
Desired Experience & Qualification
Computer literate – Microsoft Office (intermediate)
Organizational skills (ability to plan, delegate and organize within defined timelines).
Decision making skills
Knowledge of and exposure to the FMCG Top end grocery retail industry
Valid driver’s license
Relevant Diploma or Degree
Must have 8+ years’ experience, preferably in FMCG handling chain stores and major wholesalers
