The Finance Manager will work closely with the Business Development Manager to establish and grow the South Africa business. As a start-up within a group of subsidiaries in the Group, this role requires a dynamic individual who is prepared to get their hands dirty and go the extra mile as they establish the finance and compliance functions of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities
The execution of the management and financial accounting functions of the entity.
Fulfilling statutory and corporate reporting requirements.
Involvement in the budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes, including preparation of Exco presentations, capex models and investment committee documents.
Financial year-end processes, including liaising with auditors and preparation of group financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
Implementation of corporate governance and internal control procedures and systems.
Project finance management.
Strategic finance management including business analysis.
Development of a best-in-class finance team as the business grows.
Manage both internal and external (e.g. Auditors, banks, etc.) stakeholders.
As and when required, the Finance Manager will be expected to assist in the achievement of other ad hoc strategic initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Responsible for developing the finance function for the company.
Document and roll out business processes to ensure a highly controlled business environment.
System implementation to meet business requirements.
Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations and reporting.
Ensure timely preparation of the monthly Management Reporting Pack as well as other corporate and regulatory reporting requirements.
Preparation of annual budget and any forecasting exercises as required.
Ensuring monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Evaluate profit and cost efficiencies and related trends in various areas of the organisation.
Monthly analysis of actual vs budgeted overheads.
Tailoring management accounts to allow management to make appropriate decisions e.g. Ratio analysis.
Filing returns for PAYE, VAT, Income Tax and other statutory obligations.
Financial statement preparation in accordance with IFRS.
Acting as a point of contact for different business units (e.g. Commercial, Treasury, Operations).
Cash flow forecasting and ensuring adequate funding lines are in place.
Monitoring and improving finance processes to achieve ‘best in class’ standard.
Preparation of ad-hoc management reports/ reconciliations as and when required.Manage the audit process.
Assistance with M&A activity, including preparation of due diligence reports and valuation models.
Seek opportunities to leverage technology advancements in the finance function.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Post-Graduate/Honours degree in Accounting/Finance required.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience (post articles) in financial accounting.
Start-up experience is an advantage.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Microsoft Excel).
Strong change management and analytical skills.
Driven individual with the ability to manage multiple assignments.
Ability to complete projects timely (deadline driven) and accurately is critical.
Excellent Communication skills.
Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Display strong leadership abilities.
