Job Description:
My client, in the Manufacturing industry is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Monitor boat material and price variances;
Compare budget BOM to actual;
Report on monthly variances for handover boats;
Report on moulding shop material waste and variances;
Investigate major variances, develop SOP’s where required to prevent loss.
Maintain and improve on option costing models;
Reconcile SYSPRO to option lists;
Report on variances where cost result in margin shrinkage
Update SYSPRO with latest contract prices;
Review integrity of contract price list and feedback to procurement (expired prices, duplicate prices, and inconsistency with unit of measure);
Assist in solving accounts department system price queries;
Allocate new contract prices within costing categories.
Update SYSPRO with latest contract prices;

Prepare daily labour graphs;
Facilitate in updating budget labour hours.
Update spares pricing model;
Calculate and check costing for made-in items.

Assist in preparing annual budgets;
Assist in annual option margin review.
Desired Experience & Qualification
A minimum of 5-year experience in a Manufacturing environment (as Cost/Management Accountant or similar role).
Minimum qualification: Degree/Diploma in Cost and/or Management Accounting
Attention to detail
Have sound knowledge of Financial Management.
Problem solving and adaptable
Have applicable statutory, legal and company knowledge.
The ability to compile and implement financial risk / contingency plans.
Must have the ability to resolve conflict / problems in an amicable manner.
Leadership – create a high-performance culture and motivate subordinates.
Must be reliable in terms of honesty and trustworthiness.
Must be a systematic person with strong analytical abilities.
Ability to critically evaluate information, look for potential limitations and focus on improvement.
Must have good communication skills.
The ability to multi task.
Working knowledge of ERP systems, experience with SYSPRO advantageous.
Working knowledge of Bills of Material essential.
Advanced MS Excel Skills (i.e. Pivot Tables, ODBC reports, Formulas and Macros).
