Our client is a prestigious medium sized corporate law firm based in Sandton, with an outstanding client base and exceptional brand. They are looking for a Associate in their Commercial Litigation practice area to join their team expanding team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Drafting of letters to opposing attorneys
Running legal matters on behalf of clients
Drafting of legal proceedings in order to initiate and defend legal proceedings.
Drafting of legal opinions
Appearing in High Court
Assist with all aspects of the company’s employment, compliance, product safety, regulatory, commercial and other matters
Evaluate and resolve pre-litigation legal claims.
Proactively identify and manage legal risk.
Support the Legal Department’s strategic business initiatives.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams as a business partner.
Ability to work under pressure and prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines with a changing, fast-paced environment.
Strong business acumen including the ability to integrate legal and business issues, so as to communicate effectively with business leaders.
Business-oriented approach to problem solving, tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk.
Detail-oriented and resourceful with excellent follow-through skills
Desired Experience & Qualification
2+ Years’ Post Admission Experience
Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
Background in any or all of litigation, corporate, employment, regulatory law, and other legal subject matters are appropriate.
Strong litigation skills, such as managing all phases of discovery, including propounding and responding to written discovery, electronic document production, taking and defending depositions
Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients.
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
Dedicated and goal-oriented with a strong work ethic
