Reporting to the Manager: Plant, the role will be responsible for the quality assurance of the diamond winning process and provide service and support to the treatment section to ensure efficiency in the treatment process.
Duties & Responsibilities
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, develops or improves relevant systems, considering cost effectiveness, to support the Plant business plan by:
recommending designs and changes to improve unit processes and system utilisation;
prioritizes and schedules identified and allocated projects;
planning the project, taking cognisance of Management Principles, steps and guidelines;
identifying and evaluating possible opportunities and threats in the section and formulating plans to enhance or counteract;
reviewing and recommending standards for existing and new project and maintenance systems; innovative thinking and approaches.
Assist with conducting interventions to improve unit process utilisation and efficiency by:
monitoring statistics and trends on process information, recommending appropriate changes and implementing these accordingly;
developing and implementing operating procedures to ensure safe, effective and efficient utilisation; analysing the unit process performance, information reporting and technical effectiveness and facilitating the change processes as required.
Responsible for the management of laboratory equipment, processes and ensure that process sampling is conducted accurately and timeously.
Responsible to conduct metallurgical test work on Plant equipment to ensure optimum efficiency.
Assist with commissioning new Plant(s) and advise the relevant stakeholders on best operating method. Reporting, Monitoring & Evaluation, Audit: Ensure that all Plant / Processing reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
Analyse data and statistics from the processes and identify incongruences or potential problem areas. Write up results of test work in the form of formal reports.
Report regularly to direct supervisor regarding the status of each project and to discuss new projects/ products/company research.
Initiate and co-ordinate steps to resolve treatment process problems.
Keep abreast of metallurgical developments and make recommendations to resolve problems.
Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
Company Policy & Procedures Compliance: Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
Participate in the implementation and management of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) and Security processes and procedures.

Engagement & Communication: Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Plant / Processing / Engineering Function.
Supervises subordinates in the designated section by:
Prioritising tasks according to requirements and briefing / instructing subordinates as appropriate; and identifying training requirements and performing on-the-job training as required.

Over-inspecting equipment, work areas and tasks performed to ensure that standards are met;
Identifying the training requirements of subordinates and making recommendations accordingly or performing on the-job training as required;
controlling labor/relief requirements and leave rosters as/when necessary; advising/guiding/coaching/disciplining subordinates appropriately;
Ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures, set standards and statutory requirement; ensuring cooperation, improve morale and satisfaction within team; o inspiring loyalty and trust;
Providing effective feedback to subordinates.

Desired Experience & Qualification
B Degree in Chemical/Mineral Processing Engineering OR B.Tech Degree Extractive
Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering OR National Higher Diploma in Extractive Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering.
Completed a recognised Graduate Development Programme.
Leadership Development Programme (LDP) or equivalent qualification.
A minimum of 3 years Metallurgical experience within a mining environment.
Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite. Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite.
