Manager: Financial Reporting, Policies and Governance
We have a fixed term contract role for an experienced Manager: Financial Reporting, Policies and Governance to ensure accurate and timely financial and taxation results and reporting across the organization in accordance with international financial reporting standards and Taxation legislation (and manage the external audit process)
To ensure adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, and controls within the financial processes across the organization countrywide to ensure that Enterprise Risk Management is performed (and manage the internal audit process in finance)
Key Performance Areas:
Review and approve financial analysis of prospective suppliers for tender evaluation purposes.
Prepare opinions on accounting treatments for new and unusual transactions.
Guide implementation across the business units
Co-ordinate inputs from business units within the organization, to quantify the impact of changes in accounting treatment.
Monitor the accuracy of implementation.
Co-ordinate implementation of new taxation treatments across the organization, in line with the requirements of Taxation legislation
Coordinate and review preparation of unusual reporting entries within the organization environment e.g., quarterly revaluation of facilities.
Coordinate the quarterly and year-end external audit process to ensure efficient and effective execution of the audit and adequate focus on risk areas.
Coordinate and review preparation of Annual Financial Statements for purposes of the Tariff application to the Regulator.
Coordinate the internal audit processes within the Critical Financial Reporting Processes to efficient and effective execution of the audit and adequate focus on risk areas.
Continually assess the efficiency and optimal use of reporting systems (including SAP) and drive improvement projects to ensure streamlined financial reporting processes.
Continually assess the application of accounting policies within the organization in line with International Financial Reporting Standards and drive amendments where necessary
Identify shortcomings in the Critical Financial Reporting Control processes via evaluation of
Internal and external audit findings and assist business process owners in determining the root causes and optimal resolution of shortcomings.
Qualification as a CA (SA) is required.
At least 5 years’ experience working in Finance plus 2 years’ management experience
Practical application of IFRS
Development and adequacy assessment of financial processes and related controls
Forensic concepts and frameworks.
Internal and external auditing processes.
General knowledge of Financial Accounting policies and processes.
Understanding of strategic, functional, operational, and technical management and related risks
PFMA and other applicable legislation.
High Ethical Standards

Computer Literacy, MS Office as a minimum
Communication skills: verbal and written.

Ability to build strong relationships, particularly with Steering Committee members
