a Construction Company in Pretoria is looking for a person with strong skills and experience to employ in the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO).
The suitable person will have Qualifications in Civil Engineering with 15 years experience which 8 years must be on Senior Management Level. Also have at least 5 years experience at EXCO level.
Must be a Registered Professional Engineer with ECSA.
The purpose of the position is responsible for directing all aspects relating to business operations by working closely with the Management Team to develop strategy, lead continuous improvement efforts and manage performance standards for measuring progress and effectiveness in order to build a world class operation.
The salary for the role is R2,2 millon per annum.
Duties & Responsibilities
Corporate Services Management
Direct activities of the Corporate, Transport, Management Services and Infrastructure Divisions
Corporate and Technical Services Management:
Approve and monitor / oversee strategic business plans for Corporate and Technical Divisions
Oversee the development and implementation of strategic and operational policies of respective departments
Review, develop and monitor Corporate and Technical services best practices
Monitor that various policies and decisions of the company are implemented in a most financial and effective way
Investigate and comment on reports submitted to EXCO which have Corporate and Technical Services implications
Report on Divisional performance to relevant stakeholders (EXCO, MANCO, Board)
Evaluate and comment on the applicability of specific operational key performance indicators and measures against outcomes detailed in the Company's strategic plans
Collaborate on the drawing up of strategic business plans for the Corporate and Technical Services divisions
Ensure that business of the various Departments is aligned to the Company's strategic objectives and business priorities
Review, develop and update best practice to Corporate and Technical Services policies and procedures
Direct the Activities of the Corporate and Technical Services Divisions:
Lead and manage the Corporate and Technical Services Divisions and set the necessary policies, rules and regulations in place to ensure proper and effective services
Provide guidance and monitor adherence to all applicable legislation, rules an policies
Stay abreast and interpret relevant legislation, implement and communicate relevant Business Development Changes timeously with internal stakeholders
Prepare, manage and monitor the capital and operational budget
Analyse trends, operating requirements and prepare capital and operating plans / estimates to determine funding for the financial year
Evaluate the Corporate and Technical Services Divisions performance against the approved budget and addressing deviations
Authorise payment requests, requisitions etc regarding expenditure as delegated
Prepare motivational reports for additional funds requests for submission to the Board for approval when required
Ensure that Corporate and Technical Services Divisions are represented in all relevant forums and meetings
Liaise with internal and external auditors
Communicate with key clients and other stakeholders on their needs and resolve and respond to their queries
Communicate with service providers to ensure SLA's have been met and contracts managed appropriately
Identify designated staff responsibilities, authority and personal performance measurement criteria
Implement staff development and training
Participate in the recruitment and selection
Assess workplace conflict through the initiation and co-ordination of consultative processes
Desired Experience & Qualification
Civil Engineering Degree
Postgraduate Qualification in Civil Engineering / Management
Pr Eng - ECSA
15 Years experience
8 Years Senior Management role
5 Years on EXCO Level
Working knowledge of relevant contracts and industry standards e.g. FIDIC, JBCC
Intermediate knowledge of BBBE-EE, EE and AA Legislation
Intermediate knowledge of ISO Standards and Quality Management
Experience in Project Management and Built Environment Infrastructure
Package & Remuneration
The salary for the role is R2,2 million per annum.
