Job Description:
My client in the manufacturing industry is looking for an Occupational Health Practitioner to join their team in Pietermaritzburg.
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
The OHP will need to provide medical assistance to staff, contractors and visitors. The OHP will be responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of all persons while on the premises of the company
Direct and co-ordinate Primary and Occupational Health activities and promote employee wellness in the work place and ensure compliance with relevant legislation
Conduct medical assessments
Attend SHER meetings
Maintain accurate, complete, updated and confidential health records for each employee and specified contractors
Plan clinic times around employee needs
Establish and provide relevant training, education and counselling to all persons at the premises of the company
Prepare monthly Occupational Health reports and statistics and share with the management team
Identify and report high risk and hazardous actions and behaviour to ensure that risks are minimised
Work in conjunction with the SHER Officer in managing effective health and safety on the site
Plan time for workplace visits, risk assessments, audits and consultation with employees
Liaise with the company Occupational Medical Practitioner and various internal and external stakeholders
Build effective working relationships
Manage all employee related injuries on duty (IOD’s) including making the relevant COIDA/RMA claims. Assist with the incident investigations.
Desired Experience & Qualification
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
General Nursing qualification, and a Diploma/Degree in Occupational health
Certificates in Audiometry and Spirometry
Dispensing Licence
Relevant Occupational Legislation knowledge is essential
Registration with SANC and SASHON
5 years or more experience as an Occupational Health Practitioner
Must have own reliable transport and a drivers’ license
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is essential
