Role Description: Reporting to the Group Management Accountant, this role will manage and oversee the management information and analysis function of all operations, in order to meet the short-,, medium- and long-term objectives of the Company and to provide Group Management with appropriate financial management information and advice.
The position will be based in Cullinan and will also be required to attend to certain of the functions in Bryanston.
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Contributing to the establishment of the organisation’s long-term business objectives by identifying and evaluating external factors which may impact the organisation; advising managers on critical economic and financial developments as well as contributing to the development of the organisation's financial information's systems strategy as a complement to its business strategy.
Develop and execute an operational finance forecast, budget and plan to support BU's Operational Finance forecast, budget and plan; in order to demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in achieving business performance objectives as well as short- and long-term company business objectives.
Work with the Marketing & Sales team to provide input to finalise short- medium- and long-term revenue forecasting.
Work with business to provide input and finalise short (1 year), medium (3 years) and long-term (Life of Mine) cash forecasts.
Consolidation and review of weekly Mine Cash Requirements.
Provide necessary leadership to the sub-function that will ensure finance processes are understood, valued and adhered to.
Drive initiatives as appropriate to improve work practices and procedures.
Review and approve master data change requests.
Ensure implementation of all financial reporting processes by driving a strong compliance framework.
Manage the service levels for Finance Reporting for new/changed/ decommissioned reports.
Review and communicate the analysis of KPIs, metrics and other key analytical data highlighting significant performance issues to senior management.
Lead and support any necessary Commercial decision making
Engage internal and external stakeholders on Operations Finance related matters, and support operations on Operations
Finance related engagement.
Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Operations Finance Function, Marketing & Sales Function and the relevant stakeholders at the operations.
Ensure that all Operations Finance reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
Supervise the Internal Reporting, Capital Reporting and Cost Reporting processes; Support senior management in decision making by analysing and presenting critical financial and management reports at Operation level.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data at Operation level (including internal cost and capital data) for the company and provision of information to enable effective decision making.
Ensure monthly reporting deadlines are met across the group.
Ensure that accounting systems and reporting tools are supporting the organisation, and ensure that all the policies and procedures are reviewed and up to date with IFRS.
Application of appropriate principles and techniques in order to establish the current and future costs of the organisation’s products, services and activities.
Managing the process of information gathering, processing, storage and retrieval from central database.
Dealing with the organisation’s customers, suppliers, external advisors, auditors, bankers and investors.
Provide assurance for reporting of production data and key financial metrics of the Group in quarterly trading updates, preliminary results and annual report.
Provide assurance for recording of monthly production by operations on PDM system, reconcile to on-mine production reports and lock system for further processing.
Ensure Mineral Royalty taxes are calculated accurately and timeous submission of Mineral Royalty taxes to SARS.
Apply for election and exemption certificates from SARS and ensure excise duty and levy returns are done in time on e-filing by operation's finance teams.
Preparation, presentation and interpretation of regular management accounts and related reports; KPIs & flash reporting.
Comparison of actual performance with budget and/or forecast; analysis and interpretation of variances.
Preparation of regular reports to senior management.
Contribute and assist technical teams in calculation and submission of the MWP for each operation.
Review of existing systems and processes as well as involvement in the design, development and implementation of new or replacement systems and procedures.
Submission of diamond registers monthly to the SADPMR.
Management of weekly cash requirements of operations and communicating these requirements to corporate finance team.
Communication, preparation and operational readiness external audits by ensuring all financial processing are done in line with accounting policies.

B Com Degree (Accounting or Management Accounting).
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Mining Financial environment
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft office Suit Package (Excel Advanced).
Valid driver's license.
Auditing/ Accounting/ Management Accounting systems experience (AccPac and ESSbase Advantageous).
Management Development Programme (MDP) or equivalent
Demonstrate knowledge and skill with regard to financial accounting standards, practices, tax directives and legislative requirements.
Demonstrate knowledge and skill in risk management principles and practices.
Demonstrate strong commercial and financial knowledge and understanding of internal financial controls.
Demonstrate knowledge and skill in budgeting, forecasting and capital processes, as well as expenditure control against these.
Demonstrate knowledge and skill as a commercially astute, business minded, operationally oriented individual of superior intelligence who is profit driven with bottom line awareness.
