R - Market Related - P/M (Per Month)
We are looking for an Admitted Attorney preferably with a minimum of 5 years’ post admission experience to assist with the management of the Deceased and Trust Estates Department of a well-established Legal Firm in Pietermaritzburg. The candidate should have a B.Com and LLB (and have experience and exposure to financial statements).
Drafting wills and Trust Deeds
Be able to independently attend to the Administration of Deceased Estates from start to finish (Reporting to the Master of the High Court);
Obtaining Letters of Executorship; Section 29 Advertisements;
Handling of the different assets of the Estate;
Drafting of the Liquidation and Distribution Account;
Submission of the Account to the Master of the High Court; Section 35 advertisements;
Distribution of Assets; Applying for the Filing Slip.
Must have a good understanding of the procedures at South African Revenue Services (SARS) in regard to the finalizing of the Income Tax of a deceased person prior to date of passing and further, after date of passing in the name of the Estate as an entity;
Must have a good understanding of the process surrounding an Estate which is liable for Estate Duty;
Must understand and be able to handle assets situated both locally and offshore;
Experience with the Deceased Estate's Software, Legalease, will be an added advantage.
Computer skills on all Microsoft programmes.
The Candidate must have good problem-solving skills, communication skills and must have had previous experience in the handling of Clients and Client Services.
The Candidate must be driven and results-orientated
To assist in the day to day management of the Deceased and Trust Estates Department;
Attending weekly / bi-weekly appointments at the out of town offices
