To supervise, manage, plan, schedule and facilitate all Autocatalyst Salts activities, personnel, technologies and raw materials to ensure that the departments’ targets are met
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities may be extended at management request; therefore, essential functions may include but are not limited to:
Driving the production plan by managing and prioritising efforts of engineers, process controllers and packaging operators. Must ensure Autocatalyst Production demands are satisfied. Prioritising and following up on the ACP transfers.
Ensure that all internal and external customer shipments or transfers are carried out effectively and on time.
Full accountability of metal control and ensuring that BCT program functions effectively.
Ensure Lean manufacturing philosophies are implemented within the department (5s, AM, costs reduction, zero defect or re-works)
Ensure efficient operation of shifts by managing efforts of subordinates.
Ensure that ACS morning meetings are well organised and meaningful.
Optimise current processes and increase productivity.
Ensuring batch files and procedures are completed and followed.
Ensure that all metal control procedures are followed and that all stock is safeguarded.
Investigate, report and suggest solutions to problems and incidents.
Monitor staff performance and take corrective action with assistance from the Superintendent as and when necessary.
Manage raw materials movement in and out of the Salts plant.
Ensure that all staff (including contractors) in the Salts plant are safe and adhere to the EHS rules.
Preparation for stocktake.
Following up outstanding information and outstanding results from the lab.
Conduct stocktake and coordinate all stocktake activities in the plant and reserve sample.
Liaison with other departments.
Liaise with team leaders from other departments through attendance of meetings such as daily production meeting (Legotla) as well as team leader meeting with the Lab and Washcoat.
Prioritising duties of the maintenance.
Prioritising and following up on results from the lab.
Maintaining training and brief records.
Co-ordinating all training as agreed with management.
Training and assessment of engineers and process controllers on ACS production philosophies
Ensuring all procedures are followed and up to date.
Ensure that all EHS procedures are adhered to, including housekeeping.
Metal control and security procedures.
Production, PGM packaging and PGMR procedures.
Participate in the implementation and maintenance of Process Safety Risk Management system.
Monitoring staff performance and taking corrective action if necessary.
Controlling costs and driving stock reduction.
Monitoring expenses (ppe, wastage of raw material).
Blending/re-working failed batches.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering / Chemistry/Metallurgy/ Mechanical engineering
At least 3 years’ experience in Chemical Processing.
At least 3 years’ experience in Autocatalyst Salts Department.
