IT Manager (Newlands, Cape Town)
You will be working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, the IT Manager will oversee and guide the implementation of the IT strategy, and will actively implement IT policies, processes and controls in support of business operations. This includes testing disaster recovery plans and ensuring that the ICT platform supports business continuity. This individual is responsible for all aspects of the organisation’s information technology and systems.
Manage ICT Risk
Review the ICT policy half-yearly to make sure that it is relevant, up to date and all risk mitigation controls are documented;
Ensure that access to information is secured to IT industry standards and that the organisation conducts regular checks on network and data security;
Maintain recovery and back-up system procedures.
Making sure the organisation is capacitated and efficient
Support the Executive Manager Operations in ensuring that the ICT platform delivers and is always available (95% uptime);
Give Help Desk support to users across the 8 offices for computer hardware, systems, network and connection set up:
Prompt problem solving of all IT problems
Ensure the proper operation of current computer applications
Available for support after hours.
Ensure that systems and services are available anywhere and anytime and device agnostic:
Migrate physical hardware and on premises services to Hosted/Cloud solutions according to the ICT Steerco approved Cloud rollout plan
Enable work anytime and single sign on for all users
Rollout Office 365 Enterprise 3 office package to the organisation
Make sure internet connectivity across the 8 SA offices provides the best (speed vs affordability) solution for each office.
Ensure that the Company Data management policy is updated and kept current;
Take care of IT equipment configuration and maintenance ;
Manage current communication system of the organisation ;
Ensure proper functioning of corporate communication and conference systems;
Take responsibility for the management of server and system control room;
Take responsibility for the management of IT contractors and service providers;
Ensure periodical maintenance of existing equipment and suggest improvement and investments in new equipment and applications;
Install new applications and programs;
Notify employees about problems, educate and train users to properly use equipment and applications, as well as to solve problems;
Defining capital expense and operational expense budgets;
Project manage the rollout of the new system
Interact on a regular basis with an external service provider and coordinate all the sessions with SA staff
Member of the Operations committee, responsible for record keeping
As required, develop and present information and training to colleagues.
Implement the new ERP solution (NetSuite) by July 2019:
Display and provide transformational leadership, team management and performance management;
Regular reporting to the CFO relating to the operation and progress of IT matters;
Maintain confidentiality about company and staff information;
Participate in the following meetings:
Finance and Business Support unit
Reasonable ad hoc duties may be required by the CFO from time to time in accordance with the operational requirements of Group;
Managing a team of 3 IT resources. 2 IT technicians (based in Newlands and Braamfontein) and 1 ERP Resource (Role TBC).
Work with a high degree of autonomy and make decisions within the delegated areas of responsibility;
Contribute to short and long-term organisational planning and strategy as a member of the management team.
Commitment to environmental issues and strong support for company mission;
Min of 5 years working experience in the same or similar role;
10 Years of experience in Helpdesk support and user training;
Knowledge of IT landscape;
Specialized knowledge and Training in computer units, cabling, setting up of servers, operating systems, Microsoft databases;
Superior and efficient writing and verbal skills in English and at least another South African language (Protocol, Verbal, Written and Digital);
Technology solutions and operating competence (Microsoft CRM, Pastel, ERP Platform);
Relevant experience in ERP systems design and implementation;
Relevant business process design, implementation and management experience and skills;
Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff and major projects or initiatives;
Relationship building skills;
Highly organised. Excellent planning and organizing skills;
Attention to detail. Good Enquiring vs Implementation balance;
