Leading freight management company based in Johannesburg is seeking to appoint a Sales Consultant in the Business Development Department.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare quotations and service proposals for customers.
Update sales figures on the workflow sales system.
Update rates schedules for export, transport and import customers
Track expiry date of annual proposals.
Maintain a sales margin template for the region.
Marketing and sales of a diverse product offering to prospective customers/clients.
Support, meet and exceed sales pipeline for the region in order to ensure the required conversion is achieved.
Independently identify and obtain sales leads and work closely with Business Development managers to convert leads.
Identify value proposition prospects for existing customers to grow revenue organically.
Target and obtain appointments with diverse companies to introduce service capabilities in order to support the sales pipeline.
Research supply chain solutions for potential customers to assess their logistics requirements and develop solutions together with Business Development Managers.
Develop comprehensive service proposals and quotations together with business development managers in line with the customer’s scope of work.
Track new converted opportunities, measure volume committed by customers vs actual volume achieved, analyse the gap and bring the deviation to the attention of the business development.
Visit potential and existing clientele whenever required to do so, coordinate sale efforts with Business Development Managers and the operational teams.
Expedite the resolution of customer complaints by working together with the respective departmental heads and give feedback to the business development managers for appropriate support.
Provide Business Development Managers with reports on competitor activities, market trends, possible threats and opportunities for the region.
Completed relevant Degree / National Diploma in Sales & Marketing
At least 5 years’ experience in Sales (Minimum two years’ experience in transport & warehousing). Knowledge of freight industry will be an added advantage.
Must be IT savvy with good presentation and conceptual skills
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Demonstrated experience in obtaining sales leads in the freight industry and other compatible businesses.
Able to interact across all levels of the organization and must have the ability to work within a fast paced and changing environment.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently, highly ethical and target driven.
