Top Mining company seeks a Plant Manager for Packaged Emulsions to optimally deliver products as per defined schedule and allocated resources whilst always ensuring compliance with minimum legal safety, quality and operational standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver production targets as per the schedule within the agreed budget and compliance specifications
Ensure that the resources provided (Plant, process, people and material) is optimally utilized to meet the minimum schedule
Ensure that during production all minimum legal safety, quality and operational requirements including minimum training standards are continuously met
To monitor daily output, quality and safety objectives as well as to direct corrective action
If needed take direct control in production processes to correct product output/quality adherence as and when required in order to achieve daily targets
Managing of usage variances against agreed standards
Quality products produced to product specification
Ensure that there is compliance to the provided quality procedures in order to ensure that all product released for sale complies with the minimum quality specifications by adherence and compliance to the stipulated process control parameters
Conduct the required management over inspection and compliance verification to achieve the above.
Without delay and timeous reporting, report any instances as agreed with management regarding risks related to safety, short supply and other operational incidences related to production or product availability.
Ensure that all plant reports (as included in the agreed KPA’s) are submitted periodically to management as and when required e.g. Compliance deviations (schedule, safety, quality, incidents, ER & HR related issues)
Enabled and compliant plant delivery
Ensure that the resources allocated (people, process and material) are optimally utilized as expected to meet their daily/weekly targets
Optimize the plant performance by recruiting qualified, well trained and experienced resources within agreed budget parameters
Plan, organize and enable the production/plant team to ensure that all required skills and tools/other resources are available as and when required in order to meet the target/schedule
To ensure that the training plans are implemented and managed for all team members in line with the plant’s day to day deliverables
Plant Safety and Security
Ensuring minimum safety process and quality critical staffing positions are occupied on each shift as per the prerequisite for production to commence
To ensure compliance to all legal and other safety procedures and processes as prescribed to minimize risks
Optimal task/plant process performance
To ensure proactive management of the resources provided to maximise operational efficiencies of the production processes to ensure continuous improvement such as raw material, consumables, energy and water, human resource and time utilization, etc.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
5 years’ demonstrated experience in the manufacturing and production of explosives within a mining or resources industry
3 years’ demonstrated experience in the applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and quality
3 years’ demonstrated experience in people management
