Payroll Officer with Pastel Payroll experience required for the Sandton area. Candidates must have extensive Payroll experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensures timely and accurate processing of all payroll in accordance with requirements of various
➢ Keeps abreast of current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the
processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes.
➢ Maintain accurate records of employee unemployment and disability insurance payments to
ensure no overlap in state benefits and wage payments occur.
➢ Assists staff with general questions related to payroll, leave accruals, wage deductions, fringe
benefits, and other pay related issues.
➢ Conducts regular payroll reporting as required and assists with financial audits related to pay
records and associated general ledger.
➢ Performs filing and upkeep of employee payroll records.
➢ Generates computer report of payroll activities for HR Team, monthly.
➢ Submissions of UIF, PAYE & SDL.
➢ Reconcile all third-party payments.
➢ Processes wage garnishments and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely
manner, including reporting to the necessary parties.
➢ Updating of all payroll tables/ calculations.
➢ Working knowledge and understanding of HRMS, loading of new employees and exiting of new
employees off the system, uploading of payslips on the system
Desired Experience & Qualification
➢ A minimum of 5 years Payroll Experience.
➢ A minimum of 5 years working knowledge and understanding Pastel system.
➢ Speak English and Afrikaans clearly and confidently.
➢ A proven record of success in Payroll Administration.
➢ An in-depth working knowledge of the industry.
➢ Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
➢ A good level of commercial/financial awareness with excellent analytical & problem-solving skills.
➢ Strong leadership skills.
➢ Excellent communication and organisational skills;
➢ Strong attention to detail and payroll reconciliations to the general ledger.
➢ Ability to work well with others (teamwork) in a fast paced and dynamic environment
