Job Description:
Reporting to the Lead Engineer. The Systems Engineer will be responsible or the design of all systems (Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical) with all associated detailing, serving several production lines producing both sailing and power-driven yachts.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design all systems (Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing) and systems installations to meet the manufacturers guidelines, functional requirements and certification standards, ensuring suitability for manufacture, serviceability and that designs are within cost parameters.
Create CAD Models and assemblies (Solidworks) for systems installations
Complete calculations for the design and specification of systems components
Specify components and liaise with procurement for the sourcing thereof
Research new parts or materials and evaluate viability as required for new product development or engineering change request (ECR)
Prepare and ensure the bill of materials specification is always correct and updated
Complete critical quality checks and commissioning of all systems during new part prototyping or ECR implementation
Create detailed manufacturing drawings for assembly and installation of all systems components and equipment
Compile and/or update all technical documentation, including but not limited to Technical Reports, Standard Operating Procedures, Technical Bulletins, Retrofit Procedures and owner’s manuals
Provide ongoing technical support to other departments (Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Warranty, etc.)
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum: Engineering Degree/B Tech (Mechanical or Electrical)
A minimum of 2-year work experience in a design engineer or manufacturing engineer role
A good understanding of electrical systems and components
Good working knowledge of Solidworks (2013 upwards), and basic knowledge of AutoCAD/Draftsight (2010 upwards) Speed/Accuracy tests to be conducted in both programs
Working knowledge of MS Office package (especially Excel)
Boat Building experience or knowledge of marine industry preferred
Knowledge of PLC systems and Digital Switching is advantageous
