Duties & Responsibilities
Work with in a highly skilled and specialized team of motivated individuals, perform technically demanding calculations and interact with all areas of the business. Maintaining and developing our in-house regulatory capital calculation infrastructure.
This is an opportunity to develop technical skills and industry knowledge and build relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders with exposure to senior management and clients.
Preparation of selected calculations for regulatory, financial and management reporting
Calculation of regulatory capital requirements for cells, promoter and license
Calculation of technical provisions (IFRS and SAM)
Development and maintenance of existing processes, tools and infrastructure.
Input into actuarial components of the ORSA and Risk Appetite and other Risk reporting
Interaction with cell captive clients (across a wide range of risk classes including niche classes)
including capital planning and balance sheet optimization, and capital projections for new business
Development of solutions and actuarial input for business challenges and initiatives
Provide support to South African and international (Mauritius & Gibraltar) client operations
Provide support to relevant teams driving new business and growth
Desired Experience & Qualification
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent programming skills
Excellent communication skills
Almost qualified actuary (or senior student who has completed all the CT exams)
3 to 5 years’ working experience (Non-Life experience preferred)
Experience with MS Access
Strong experience in programming (SQL, VB.NET/VisualStudio, R)
Knowledge of SAM including all aspects of the Standard Formula
Experience in various actuarial analytical software (ResQ, Igloo, Power Pivot)
